About 45 km north of Farafra Oasis and is truly white, in clear contrast with the yellow desert found everywhere else. The rock formations of the desert are wonderfully dramatic with truly astounding shapes carved out by the wind over thousands of years. Many of the organized trips to the White Desert include camping overnight. By the light of the night sky the landscape seems to glow with a striking resemblance to the Arctic.
